Heart-wrenching news from Assam, 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred today, May 29, 2023. Earthquake tremors have been felt in Assam at 8:30 am.  The intensity of the tremors is said to be very high.  Earthquake tremors were felt not only in India's Assam but also in Bhutan, China, and Bangladesh along with India. 


How strong was the earthquake in Assam today?

The intensity of the earthquake in India's Assam is being told as 4.4.  Earthquake tremors have been felt in Assam as well as in Guwahati.  According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake was Sonitpur.  However, so far there has been no news of any damage or accident due to the earthquake in Assam and Guwahati.

In 2023, a total of 4680 earthquakes have occurred so far across the world.  In which 4105 earthquakes of 4.0 -4.9 magnitude, 515 of 5.0 - 5.9 magnitude, 49 of 6.0 - 6.9 magnitude and 13 earthquakes of 7.0 to 7.9 magnitude have occurred.


Earthquake statistics around the world in the last five 

If we talk about world wide earthquakes in the last five years, 13530 tremors have been felt in 2019, 13572 in 2020, 16849 in 2021 and 15438 in 2022.  If we talk about the last five years, the number of earthquakes coming every year is continuously increasing.  So that is a matter of serious concern.
